Figure 8 Pool in Royal National Park, Australia
Beach name: Figure of Eight Pools
Reservoir name : Pacific Ocean
Location: Lilyvale (New South Wales), Australia
The natural "Figure of 8 Pool", which consists of two almost perfectly round grooves arranged in the shape of the number eight.
The entire area around the pool is a rocky platform dotted with various natural pools, caves and faults, so it is recommended to exercise extreme caution when moving around the area.
Due to the changing water levels of the nearby Pacific Ocean, IT IS RECOMMENDED TO VISIT THIS PLACE ONLY AT LOW WATER and when there are no storms or high waves in the area. At medium and high water levels, the place is completely flooded and inaccessible to people.
The pool is located about 30 km south of Sydney in the second oldest national park in the world - Royal National Park.
There is no direct access by car to the pools. The best solution is to park your car at Garawarra Farm Carpark and then walk about an hour to the destination.
It is worth taking provisions, drinks and good shoes with non-slip soles, because we will be walking through forest, meadows, sandy beaches, boulders and marshy rock platforms which are usually slippery. It is also recommended to arrive on the week, because on weekends it can be crowded.
